Hi! I’m Scout. 🐶
Scout is Holiday Helper’s curious little explorer. He loves holidays, traditions, stories, food, family, history and discovering all the wonderful ways people celebrate life.
Scout is especially good at asking questions. In fact, two little questions guide almost every adventure he takes.
I wonder why?
Why do we carve pumpkins? Why do we blow out birthday candles? Where did our favorite holiday foods come from? Why do families and cultures have different traditions?
How can I help?
Who cooked the meal? Who decorated? Who needs a hand? Who might need a friend? Scout knows even the smallest paws can make a celebration better.
“You don’t have to be big to make someone’s day easier. I should know. I have very small paws.” 🐾
Scout Is Ready to Explore 🌎
One question can lead Scout almost anywhere.
A Halloween pumpkin might send him searching for the origins of jack-o’-lanterns. A Thanksgiving dinner might make him wonder how harvest celebrations differ around the world. A Christmas tradition might have him reaching for his map before dessert is even served.
Sometimes the trail leads into history. Sometimes it leads into the kitchen. Sometimes it leads across an ocean.

Scout doesn’t expect to know everything about someone else’s holiday or tradition. He asks questions, listens and learns from the people who celebrate it. Different traditions make the world more interesting, and Scout wants to discover the stories behind them.

Why do we do that? Where did it begin? Scout follows curious questions into history and uncovers surprising stories behind holidays, foods, symbols and traditions.
Helper Hunts
Scout looks around for ways to lend a paw, show appreciation, welcome someone, spread kindness and help make celebrations happen.
Scout’s Learning Corner
Grab the crayons, pencils and scissors. Scout loves coloring pages, notebooking, lapbooks, puzzles, games, activities and hands-on discoveries.
Scout’s Travels
Pack the satchel! Scout follows celebrations wherever they lead, discovering new places, foods, customs, stories and people along the way.
Celebrations Don’t Happen by Themselves ❤️
Scout has noticed something important.
Behind every wonderful celebration are people doing things that are easy to overlook. Someone plans. Someone shops. Someone cooks. Someone cleans. Someone drives. Someone remembers the family recipe. Someone hangs the decorations. Someone makes room for another chair.
That is why Scout never wants to simply arrive for the fun.
He looks around.
Helping doesn’t mean children should do grown-up jobs or anything unsafe. Scout asks first and lets a grown-up help choose the right job.
Sometimes helping means setting out napkins. Sometimes it means making a card. Sometimes it means cleaning up your own mess. Sometimes it means welcoming somebody who doesn’t know anyone.
And sometimes the best thing a little Holiday Helper can do is simply sit beside someone who could use a friend.
